In 1932, Safrican Insurance Company was established with its core business, predominantly offered in the Witwatersrand area, to provide comprehensive funeral aid at very affordable rates to its policy holders.

In 1971, Safrican was taken over by the HCI Group and since then many changes have taken place from being bought by the Fedsure Group, to having Theme Investment Corporation as a major share holder. Lastly, in 2006 Channel Life acquired Safrican Insurance, making Safrican Insurance Company a full subsidiary of Channel Life. Today there are branches throughout South Africa with offices in Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Polokwane and Bloemfontein, with the head office in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

Today Safrican policies have been refined to offer policy holders the best cover at an extremely reasonable rate. Limited Life Policy provides funereal benefits that pay out a lump sum in the event of the death of a member or one of his dependents.

Individual Policies encompass a funeral plan, but with a few extra options such as Memorial Benefit, Accidental Death Benefit and Extended Family Benefit.

The Affinity Plan has been developed for employers to take out Funeral Policies for their staff members and Ancillary Benefits adds Paid-up on Death Benefits, Paid-up on Disablement Benefits, Extended Family Benefits, Accidental Death Benefits, Memorial Benefits, Repatriation Benefits and Paid-up Retirement Benefits to all its policies.

The morbidly named To Death Umbrella is a voluntary add-on, while the Executive Product assists you in taking care of not only your immediate family but also your extended family. Bokamoso is a policy that offers very basic funeral cover and within this plan there are four different plans to choose from - depending on your needs.
